TANGO-ART-JEWELRY/CARMEN5: JEWELRY WITH THE PASSION AND SENSUALITY OF TANGO

I´m a "porteña" (born in Buenos Aires), a tango dancer, and I walked the path of Art all my life ( painting, dress and make-up design for the stage, dance, chant...) And, as I see it, Art is the expression of the Soul and its vital experiences through materials, sounds, colours, movement, etc... So, when the time came to express myself through jewelry, the poetry, passion and sensuality of Tango Argentino came up naturally in my work too.

My teacher, also a tango dancer and son of a well-known jewelry artist in BA, worked for over 12 years at the famous "Tiffany" in New York and conveyed to me the secrets of the finest jewelry.

"FILETEADO" of Buenos Aires

The "fileteado" painting is the most traditional "porteño" art. It is said that "fileteado" is the iconographic emblem of BA city, and the artistic manifestation of its citizens´identity.

Full of sensual curves and "firuletes" representing colurful flowers, leaves, and mythic figures, these paintings used to lighten porteño´s daily life in their buses and markets until mid-seventies, and it still can be seen in many announcements all around the city and in the walls of the Abasto and San Telmo quarters.

Also, the movements and steps of Tango dance are related to the sensual curves and "firuletes" of these paintings, that many times sorrounds the portraits of the famous Carlos Gardel, and other masters of Tango music in the open air art markets of the city.

For the very first time, the "fileteado" is expressed in fine jewelry with all its sensuality and glamour, in these pieces in sterling silver, crystals, rodrochrocite stones, and fine zircons.

Tango dips its roots in the spirit of all the several races and cultures, also in the ones previous to the Spanish conquist.

The landscape of the modern BA (more related to Piazzola in Tango music) with its steel and glass buildings, where the high tech business develop its activities, is reflected in these geometrical pieces (limitied editions) in sterling silver (925) and high technology stones.
